Why the engine of car is at the front of car?

This is due to the weight shifting to the rear upon accelerating caused by the vehicle's inertia and as more weight is being held up by the rear wheels during acceleration the vehicle accelerates better if the rear wheels are being propelled by the engine as in the rear wheel drive.
