In addition, the bloodcontains some carbon dioxide (a waste product) that is transferred to the airin the lungs, which is thenexhaled. The result is that the exhaled air containsless oxygen and morecarbon dioxide than theinhaled air. The air in the lungs also becomes humidified with waterbefore it is exhaled.
