The gases in a container are never in rest state.. They are always in some kind of motion.. Their movements is commonly known as brownian motion.. Which is named after a scientist..
Due to this motion of the gases, they always collide against each other and the walls of the container.. This collision of the gas molecules with the container wall exerts pressure on the walls of the container..
Hope it helped..
