Answer:

Pressure is the total force per unit area.The ends of the nails and pins are made sharp in order to minimize the area which in turn increases the pressure.So when you hit the nail on its head , even a small force converts into a large pressure due to the small area of the tail and the nail is able to insert in the wall.

 \huge{\textbf{\underline{Pressure :-}}}

Q.Iron nail have sharp edge at one end and broad at opposite end.

Reason:-

The design of iron nail is such that it's one end is made sharp edge so it can easily penetrate any wooden material.

While it's opposite end is broad so that the pressure applied by hammer makes it to pentrate in wooden material.

Basics law which is applicable here is pressure.

Pressure :- It is defined as the force exerted per unit area is called pressure.

  • It's SI unit is Pascal or N / m².

Pressure can be mathematically derived as :-

 \huge \boxed{P \propto \dfrac{F}{A}}
