Why the land plants die if roots remain water log for a long time?

Explanation:

Land plants die if they remain waterlogged for a considerable time because too much water expels out all the air from between the soil particles. Due to this, oxygen is not available to the roots and so they respire Anaerobically , which produces alcohol(ethanol) which may kill the plant.
