Why the landslides occur in western gjat are less frequent then himalayas

Small & swift-flowing streams of the western side and big matured rivers on the eastern side (like Krishna, Godavari, etc) cannot carry large amounts of debris. Western Ghats have lesser man-made interference as of now than what the Himalayas have faced.

They are formed by the convergent movement of the Indian plate and Eurasian plate rather they are still rising in height. These tectonic movement causes frequent earthquakes in the region often resulting to landslides. Whereas Western Ghats lies in the stable deccan shield less prone to landslides than Himalayas.
