Why the major parts of india remain dry during the northeast monsoon season?

north west monsoon winds blow during winter season . they blow from land to sea. as they pass over bay of bengal , they pick up moisture and cause rain to the coromandel coast(tamil nadu) .hence, most of the india remains dry during north western monsoon.
