Why the northern plains are called depositional plains

The northern plains are also called as depositional plains because the rivers show depositional activity, mainly the indus, ganga and the brahmaputra.

In the middle course of big rivers especially in northern plains they carry large slit and alluvial in them and these components gets settled at places in course of journey that's why northern plains have heavy depositional activities and are called depositional plains
