why the nucleus do not repel each other during nuclear fussion?

one thing that helps reduce repulsion between the protons within the nucleus is the presence of any neutron. since they have no charge they don't add to the repulsion already present. and they help separate the protons from each other and they don't feel as strong as repulsive force from any other nearby protons.
