The number of stomatal pores present on the upper surface of a leaf are comparatively less than that on the lower surface. This is because the upper surface of the leaf is directly exposed to sunlight, which can cause excessive loss of water due to transpiration. So to prevent this loss of water, the upper surface contains comparatively less stomata.

because upper part of leaf evaporate water and if large no. of stomata is present then evaporation is fastly and loss of water is more salt lower surface have more stomata poree than upper
