The offspring are a combination of both chromosomes of his/her parents which is of X and Y. Offsprings are 50% similar to their parents because their characteristics are in their DNA.It may be because of variations they're not 100% similar to their parents.

The offsprings are not similar to their parents because :
¤ The creation of new individuals first of all involves copying of the DNA as well as of the cellular apparatus..
¤ The DNA copying mechanism cannot be absolutely accurate and Ithe resultant errors are a source of variation in the population..
¤ Another source of variation is genetic recombination.
It is a natural process due to which the arrangement of genes in the progeny is in combination that differs from that of the parents.
¤ This is because the offspring receive genes from both the parents, and this ensures the transmission of some genetic variability from the parents to the offspring .
