Why the ozen layer is called the protective sheel of earth​

It is only because of this layer that the UV rays ,which are really harmful,don't reach the surface of the earth and harm us

And it is OZONE LAYER

ozone is formed by combing of three atoms of oxygen (O3). ozone layer is a protective shield of surface of the earth . it protects from uv radiation which comes from direct sun rays .
