why the resistance of voltmeter is high.? and resistance of ammeter is low?

1. Voltmeter measures the potential difference across two points.
=> Thus to prevent electric current from flowing the voltmeter the resistance of an ideal voltmeter is very high.

2. Ammeter measures the amount of current flowing per unit area per unit time
=> Thus to allow maximum current to flow through it, the resistance of an ideal ammeter is kept very high.
