why the sound can't travel in vaccum

Sound needs Medium to travel , cause sound is nothing but a vibration .

Particles can only vibrate .

but in vacuum there are no particles , hence sound cannot travel in vacuum .

sound waves are travelling in vibration of particles in media like air, water or metal..

so this is the reason why they cannot travel in empty space which is not having any atom and molecules..
