The pump should be cleaned after spraying because it may contain some leftover chemicals from the previous spray and these chemicals might not be suitable for the next crop which we are going to spray so basically using the same sprayer without washing and cleaning it up may cause problem to the crop and its yield.

Hence the sprayer should be completely emptied before using for the next time.
