A knowledge of properties of matter is important not only to scientists but engineers as well (and anybody who is working with matter). Any laboratory experimentation with the matter requires a knowledge of chemical reactivity and physical properties.
Example :
We have to use a lot of material daily in our life so we must know about physical properties so we should decide weather we can use it or not for example wood is hard and not shiny .so this property can be used to prepare bed not mirrors
Some material reacts with other to make harmful or poisonous substances like copper reacts with (acids) curd and tamarind so before keeping these things we should know that copper can react with them and can cause damage to copper and can make food poisonous.
