The sun looks reddish at the time of sunrise and sunset because of refraction of light.

At the time of sunrise the sun appears to be above the horizon but it's somewhat below the horizon. Its light rays are able to reach us along a curved path due to refraction of light through Earth's atmosphere.

Same thing happens at the time of sunset too.
