why the supreme court is regarded as the Protector of the fundamental rights of the citizens on one hand and interpreter of the Constitution on the other​

The Supreme court prevents the fundamental rights from getting violated, and anyone can file a case directly to the supreme court if your fundamental right is violated. (I'm not sure about the second one but I think it is because the Supreme Court is the highest court and so on. Can someone else correct me?)
