The title of the chapter ‘Silk Road’ has been opted because the road that the author travelled on in Tibet while going towards Mount Kailash, was part of important network of roads used in ancient times to do trades. This network connected East Asia with Southeast Asia, east Africa, west Asia, and Southern Europe. It is called Silk Road because in those times silk trade was carried out using these routes. China was famous for its silk; the Chinese traders exported silk made in their countries to other countries through these routes.

The chapter is named ‘the silk road’ due to the ancient mean of silk route and road that used to connect the landmarks of Afro-Eurasian.

It is the best route for the Chinese silk trade along with porcelain, teas and spices.

Also, the Indian textile was involved with the pepper and precious stones trading work.

It was mainly with the silk trade with China that names it Silk Road.
