in the second stanza the mirror has been compared to a lake and the objects in the mirror as fishes in the lake. the fish is described as terrible as the woman is not beautiful .she is agitated and cries when she sees her image and moves her hands frantically hoping that the image would change.she expects the image to be attractive but it is repulsive.the terrible fish symbolizes the wrinkled,old face of the woman which has lost all its beauty.
