Why theory of evaluation is called as a theory but not a law?

To the theory states that every living being evolve from their ancestors. But this hasn't been proved so it is not considered as law.

Mahinoor: Thanks & as it's not been proven yet, one should not keep a undoubtedly strong faith on this 'theory'. Isn't it?

As these are only random assumptions for which after performing several experiments we are not sure about it. 
And law is something in which after performing exp we come to conclusion
