Why there are the chances of survival in viviparous animals then oviparous?

Viviparous animals give birth to young ones which means the young one is developed in uterus and is safe in that environment whereas oviparous animals give eggs outside. This is not safe as many eggs are eaten by other animals or are destroyed. And so this is the reason why viviparous animals have better chances of survival than oviparous animals.
