the moist wind comes from the south to north as they reach the Himalayas(southern slope of Himalayas). the Himalayas acts as a barrier so the air tends to rise as it rise the moist air gets colder and condensation takes place and there is rain after this there is very less moisture left in the air so it rises nd reaches the top nd then it desendes from the other side of Himalayas (northern side) as the air has already lost most of its moisture less rain takes place there
