why tip of pin is sharp but head is broad?

Pin is usually used to insert
If the whole pin is inserted,So there is broad head for the removal of the pin....

Answer: The tip of the pin has less area,so there is more pressure,hence it pierces easily.
Head is broad so that the area of contact is more,so the pressure can be easily exerted.
