TlCl is more stable bcoz it shows +1 oxidation state while TlCl3 shows +3 oxidation staye due to inert pair effect.

Hello dear,

● TlCl is more stable than TlCl because -
- Electronic configuration of Tl is [Xe] 4f14 5d10 6s2 6p1.
- Due to inert pair effect, its s-electrons are more strongly held that p-electrons.
- Thus, it loses 1 p-electron to form stable TlCl and can also lose 2 s-electrons to form less stable TlCl3.
- TlCl3 being less stable easily gets converted to TlCl.

Hope this helps you..
