The trachea or the wind pipe has many tracheal cartilages lining the outer part of trachea. The C-shaped cartilaginous rings are made from cartilaginous substances it bears the ring like structure around it and enclosing which is a hyaline cartilage they are incomplete posteriorly.
These cartilaginous rings enforced by hyaline cartilage play an important role for supporting the outer walls of the trachea and also for the risk of collapse during the inspiration process accompanied by forced inspiration or expiration.
