Tungsten used to make the filament of electric bulb due to following reasons : -

● It has a very high melting point.

● It glows brightly for a long time.

● It is quite stable.

● It has a long life vis - a - vis 'burn out' or possible oxidation.

● When current passes through it , it becomes 'white - hot'.
