but first understand a concept
a charge +ve or -ve in space creates an electrostatic field of its own. it is called electric field.

now if you put a same charge (here proton ) it was observed that it moved away from the original proton
and if you put an electron it was observed that it moved towards proton
they can't attack each othee.
