The bending moment at ends of simply supported and roller supported beam is taken zero because the ends of simply supported beam resists the motion of the beam in two direction that is horizontal and vertical direction while the ends of roller supported beam prevents the beam in moving in only one direction. Thus, the supports are subjected to prevent either two dimensional or one dimensional motion. So, they don’t have any influence on moment direction and so the bending moment is zero at the supports of these type of supported beams
