virus are acellular particles i.e, they are not made up of living cells.they have no energy metabolism, neither do they grow. they doesnt respond to stimuli and doesnt reproduce independently living living organisms.

virus is not a living organism due to following reasons:-
1) they are complicated assemblies of molecules, including proteins and carbohydrates, but on their own they can do nothing until they enter a living cell.

2) Without entering cells, viruses would not be able to multiply.

3) Hence, virus outside is crystal or non-living and while entering a cell, it is living.

hope this will help you.
