why viruses ate not supposed to be living?

Viruses are not made out of cells, they can't keep themselves in a stable state, they don't grow, and they can't make their own energy. Even though they definitely replicate and adapt to their environment, viruses are more like androids than real living organisms.

this question seems to be very common.

think of viruses as zombies.
basically they are pile of organic material that becomes living once they get some machinery to do life processes, which they obtain from other living organisms,
that's why there is much controversy about calling them living or non-living.
the only thing is that thr host organism don't turn to that much deadly zombies... (laughs).
