why was baking powder added to bread and cake? plz solve this question tomorrow is my exam.

Baking powder is added to cakes because
..baking powder consists of baking soda and tartaric acid...when its mixed for making cakes the tartaric acid reacts with baking soda..and releases CO2... in which the cake is fluffy smooth..and had pleasant taste.
