The Civil Disobedience Movement was launched by Mahatma Gandhi when British Government not given positive response on his eleven demands. Hence, Mahatma Gandhi had decided to make salt the central formula for Civil Disobedience Movement. This movement was injected with the ideology of disobeying laws, demands and commands of the Government. Here, we are giving the list personalities who were associated with Civil Disobedience movement of British India.

The following were the reasons for the launching of Civil Disobedience Movement :

• The Non-Cooperation movement became a widespread movement but still it was limited only to cities.

• Also the adoption of Purna Swaraj attracted very little attention of people. Thus Gandhiji thought of other process to gain mobilisation of people.

• The introduction of Simon Commission remained very harsh for movements and uprisings. Thus in order to oppose it, some large scale protest was needed.

• This time the Congress got support from different social groups. Thus a mass public support was mobilised.
