the game of cricket was spread only in areas controlled by the british because the britishers popularised the game in these areas. it is true that the game was brought to india and west indies by the britishers but the whites fully dominated the scene of cricket till late 1930 ' s . it was because the natives were not allowed to play this game. playing cricket was regarded as a sign of superior social and racial status. non whites according to the british did not possess any status nor skill to play this game.
