Dr B R Ambedkar was a well known lawyer. He had studied in England, which was considered very respectable, to say the least. All our leaders(mostly) are England educated. Moreover his knowledge of law was impeccable. One of the best of his times. Also he was a known economist and a reformer.

All of the leaders had chosen their respective fields. We can say that because of his knowledge he would have been chosen for the job and the constitution he drafted, with minute details and proper reasoning for each and every part. He was rightly chosen.
