The Salt March, also known as Dandi March took place from  12 March 1930 to 6 April 1930 in India, was an act of civil disobedience led by Mohandas Gandhi to protest British rule in India. It is an act of nonviolent civil disobedience in colonial India led by Gandhi to produce salt from the sea near the village Dandi and a campaign of tax resistance and nonviolent protest against the British salt tax .
