George Pearson is a very self absorbed man so, when he came home and saw Mrs Pearson's new attitude he was suprised.

Mrs Pearson told him that everyone at the club makes fun of him because he is slow and pompous. They call him names like Pompy-ompy Pearson.

Explanation:

Mrs Pearson was a very amicable woman, she never spoke negative. She was always down to earth, kind and generous. These qualities of her also made her feel like a door mat in her own family because she was always misunderstood, sometimes by her husband and sometimes by her kids

When Mrs Fitzgerald pointed out Mr Pearson about his nicknames and his flaws straight to his face, he was very surprised and also made him angry.

Later on he understood his mistakes.
