Mr and Mrs Bramble was the lover of truth but Harold's perfection had made necessary the series of evasion. At that time boxers were considered as the men of wrath and Mr bramble was in that profession whereas Harold was a child prodigy. Mr and Mrs Bramble thought if Harold would come to know the truth of his father then he would die with shame. So they had to lie to Harold.

Harold was not an ordinary boy.Mrs Bramble was proud of giving birth ti such a prodigy and perfect child. His parents thought that Harold would not be able to tolerate the dishonor of being the son of a 'man of wrath'.
He would be ashamed to know that is father was a professional boxer .Harold had started taking notice of things and people.
