Indian Indigo was in high demand in Europe due to multiple reasons.
First of all, the dye that was used by manufacturers was made from a weak plant that imparted generally a faded colour as far as clothing designs were concerned.
Also, Indian indigo on the other hand, had a rich colour and texture that could be replicated in any designs.
The indigo plant primarily grew in the tropics and therefore, indigo availability led to a large growth in the cloth industry.
