Because Tricki's owner send a lot of things like bread ,egg ,vine which author donot gave to Tricki infact author and his teammates consume all these things .They enjoyed all these things and wanted to keep Tricki a permanent guest so they can get all these things daily

It was a temptation of Mr. Herriot to keep Tricki as his permanent guest because Mrs. Pumphery started to send wine, eggs and brandy for Tricki to recover faster. Mr. Herriot knew that Tricki didn't need these thing to recover, so he took those things and  he and his assistant enjoyed a royal breakfast.
