He could not stop himself from telling lies as no one ever would give him anything if he tell them  the truth.

His interaction with Olga and her scolding him, made him a nice individual .As when Lushkov understood that she was  concerned about him then considering her goodness, he left drinking. Finally, letting go his bad habit of drinking, things later improved for him.

Therefore, his meeting with olga became a turning point in his life.
