Mangal Pandey, a soldier who belong to the 34th Bengal Native Infantry was the first spark to the revolt of 1857 which was also known as the India’s First Struggle of Freedom.
Mangal Pandey who was inducted to the Bengal Native Infantry right after some soldiers of British army marched past his through the streets. He served as a sepoy (Soldier) in the British Army but belong to the high class Brahman Family. Mangal Pandey was court martial-led and sentenced to death by hanging by the British government right after he killed two generals of British army (Hugeson and Baugh) at a parade ground. He killed them with his heavy Indian Sword and Musket rifle because he was agitated by the orders of British army to use the bullet cartridges of the Enfield Rifles that was greased with cow and pig lard.
