Why was model for 'secular state' chosen for india?

It was mandatory to accommodate the regional diversities of our country. So, for this purpose our constitution makers thought of declaring India a secular country rather than a hindu or muslim country. If it was not done, then it would have taken a very violent form.
It was established so as to respect all religions in our country.there should be no discrimination on basis of caste,creed especially religion.All religions'people can worship in India.Thats why it is named a secular state
