because Mrs. bramble know whether Bill will lose or win, he will get a good amount of money which they can use in Harold's high education (because Harold was a very intelligent and brilliant boy) and when she came to know that Bill isn't even fighting, she get upset.

Mrs Bramble was a good and caring housewife when she came to know that Bill her husband was going to leave the fight he got upset because of two reasons !!

The reason are :-

i ) Bill is only one who earns money. So she is worried about her economic & Finance problems .

ii ) She knows that either Bill won the game or loose the game he will surely get the amount of money !!
