Why was napoleon able to overthrow the directory and rise to power

After The failure of the Jacobin club in the reign of terror the rich people seized power and formed the directory which composed of five members but these members often used to clash with each  other and those belonging to the legislative councils this leading to the former dismissing the latter. There was political instability in France. Napoleon took advantage of this and rose to power and crowned himself his royal majesty,  the emperor of France.
