Robert Clive, the Commander-in-Chief of British army wanted to change the Nawab of Bengal in order install a puppet Nawab and thus get more and more trade concessions and political privilege.

Siraj Ud Daulah refused to give Dastak (tax free trade) as it was misused by Company officials and the Company interfered in political affairs of Bengal. It resulted in the battle of Plassey which lead to execution of Siraj ud Daulah and installed Mir Jaffar, the puppet Nawab to the throne. As the new Nawab again refused like Siraj, he was dethroned and Mir Qasim was installed. When Mir Qasim also refused to dance on the tunes of Company, he was dethroned and Mir jaffar was gain installed to the throne.
