The atmosphere was worse because Mr Van Dan ran out of money. To overcome the lack of money, they decided to sell their things. Mrs Van Dan had large quantities of clothes which she didn't want to sell. Mrs Van Dan's suit was difficult to sell, and Peter's bike was put on the block, but is back again, since nobody wanted it. Mrs Van Dan was going to have to part with her fur coat. She thinks, the firm should pay for their upkeep. These all problems caused lots of fighting and usage of bad language in annex.
