The frog was puffed up with rage because the nightingale had failed to attract the listeners with sweet notes. As his money collection began to dwindle, he became angry at the nightingale.

The frog puffed up with rage when he noticed that his income had started to decrease. The audiences who came to listen to Nightingale's song had to pay the frog some money. Since the nightingale failed to sing beautifully the audiences decreased and hence the income of the frog also decreased.
