1. Land tax was increased at the time of Muhammad Bin Tughlaq for the expansion of Kingdom.

2. It was increased in the Doab areas where land was fertile as it liedbetween the rivers Ganga and Yamuna.

3. The rains had failed and there where near famine conditions. The government official acted ruthlessly and persisted on the payment of taxes
