Mahatma Gandhi felt the need to launch a broad based movement in india.
He achieved this with Muslims.
He took up the khilafet issue.
A non cooperation movement was launched for Swaraj and in support of the the khilafet issue. During this movement Hindu Muslim was at its best
It was the first mass movement launched by Gandhiji.
After this movement the Indians organised several mass movements for Purna swaraj
